At Clockwork, the Public Relations Account Executive (AE) is essential to delivering top-notch PR services to our clients. As a key player in our team, you'll be the go-to person for ensuring smooth execution of PR strategies and client communications. This role goes beyond administration—it's your opportunity to immerse yourself in the world of PR, build strong industry relationships, and contribute to impactful campaigns. Reporting to: Senior Account Manager (AM) or Account Director (AD)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Produce status reports and lead daily stand-up sessions for accounts.
  • Organize and manage client meetings, including logistics and materials.
  • Handle administrative tasks: drafting materials, coordinating events, maintaining contacts, managing projects, and supervising interns.
  • Record and distribute client meeting notes within 24 hours.
  • Assist in campaign production and maintain trust with AM for effective account management.
  • Manage and maintain documentation in a central filing system (SharePoint).
  • Ensure high-quality work and manage time for productivity and profitability.
  • Anticipate and address potential problems; update traffic manager on job status changes.
  • Build a reputation for reliability and promptly handle internal and client queries.
  • Respond to phone calls and emails from journalists
  • Monitor media coverage and report results to the wider team and clients
  • Display knowledge of the South African media landscape (and an interest in the broader African media landscape), develop solid media relationships, and own the effective running of the PR team’s entire media relations process.
  • Contribute to Newsroom by agenda surfing on a daily
  • Arrange interviews and editorial meetings with key journalists for clients
  • Continuously seek knowledge and industry understanding to support account growth.

Skills and Requirements:

  • Strong interpersonal and project management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Experience working on corporate and consumer brands.
  • Effective communication and ability to pitch stories and ideas.
  • Experience in building and nurturing media contacts.
  • Proactive approach to learning, improving, and contributing to account and business growth.
  • Understanding of budgeting, cost management, billing processes, and account management issues.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and achieve billable targets.
